What age did you begin playing a musical instrument? 5
Why did you choose the instrument you play? My mother is a faculty at the National School of Music in Bulgaria. As an accompanist there she used to work with several violin classes, and she would bring me along to work ever since I was 2 years old. I grew to love this instrument, and my mother claims I asked her to get me a little violin when I was 3! But she didn’t take it so seriously and she was hoping that I would pick piano. But I insisted on violin so I got my first violin lesson when I was about five and a half.
Who is your favorite composer, and favorite work? Why? It is a tie between Bartok and Beethoven. There are just too many pieces that I like, I can’t pick a single one.
How many years have you been performing with Symphony in C? 2008-2009 season serves as my second year performing in this orchestra.
What’s your favorite part about playing in Symphony in C? I enjoy working with Maestro Milanov very much. I think he has a strong musical personality and great ideas. The rehearsals are always productive and inspiring.
Where do you aspire to be in ten years? And what do you plan to do? In New York performing as a soloist and in a chamber orchestra.
What are you currently listening to on your I-pod? Bjork’s Joga
What other interests outside of music do you share, if any? Fashion, cooking (experimenting with different cuisines) and drawing.
