Symphony in C is a Professional Development Orchestra serving aspiring orchestral musicians in the Greater Philadelphia region, New Jersey, and New York City. The Symphony provides concert performance opportunities, professional development experiences, and educational programs.
The base pay scale for the 2008-2009 season will be $85 per rehearsal service and $116 per concert service. Musicians are paid on a per service basis.
- Five Season Concerts per year, as well as other performance opportunities.
- Two Concerts for Young People concert services (two 45-minute concerts per service).
- Educational outreach services for chamber ensembles.
- Professional Development Seminars and Workshops

- Principal Second Violin
- Section Violin
- Oboe II
- Oboe III/Eng. Hn.
- Clarinet II
- Horn III
- Trombone I
- Trombone II
- Bass Trombone
- Section Percussion
- All sections: Substitute list players
Auditions are open to students pursuing a degree at a college, university or conservatory and professional musicians. To apply, mail or e-mail letter and resume in addition to audition time preference (Fri, Sat or Sun) to address below. We will try to accomodate your request as best as possible.
Audition repetoire: Strings- Two contrasting solo compositions (or movements) of your choice, no orchestra excerpts required.Winds and Brass- One solo composition and three contrasting excerpts of your choice.
