Eligible students will be between 12-18 years. Students OR their private teacher must reside within Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, Salem, Atlantic, and Cape May counties in Southern New Jersey and the City of Philadelphia.

Preliminary Round: Application can be found by clicking here.

A. Three items required: all must be received by 5pm Friday, November 21, 2014

  •     1. $50 non-refundable application fee.
  •     2. Two recorded musical selections submitted via YouTube
    Links must be emailed to jhart@symphonyinc.org by 5pm Friday, November 21, 2014.
    The first selection must be chosen from the “Rising Stars Strings Repertoire” for the appropriate age group of the applicant.
    The second selection should be of contrasting style and may be the choice of the student
  •     3. Completed application signed by student, parent, and private teacher (if applicable)

 

B. Piano accompaniment or memorization of music is not required.

C.  Applicants will be notified of advancement to final round by December 12, 2014 and all applicants will be provided with feedback from our judges regardless of advancement.

 

Final Round (Live Audition): Location TBD

A. Up to 20 finalists will be chosen to perform a live audition. Students must be prepared to perform BOTH works that were submitted for the Preliminary Round.

B. Piano accompaniment or memorization of music is not required.

C. The Final Round Live Auditions will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 – Location: Grace Church, 19 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield, NJ 08033 (Snow date – Sunday, January 25, 2015).

D. The Grand Prize Winner will perform with Symphony in C on the following dates:

  • Mandatory Rehearsal - Wednesday, February 25, 2015 7:30-10:30pm
  • Thursday, February 26, 2015 @ 10am and 11:30am (Friday, Feb. 27 Snow Date) at Symphony in C’s Concerts for Young People.
  • Saturday, February 28, 2015 @ 10am (Sunday, March 1, 2015 Snow Date) at Symphony in C’s Family Concert. Performances located at The Scottish Rite Theater and Ballroom at 314 White Horse Pike, Collingswood, NJ 08108.
